O leitorado brasileiro na Tailância: uma contribuição para o debate a respeito do papel do professor-leitor

Resumo
O presente artigo trata de uma análise das atividades desenvolvidas no âmbito
do programa do Leitorado brasileiro na Universidade de Chulalongkorn, na Tailândia. Na
tentativa de definir e refletir sobre a atuação do Leitorado no contexto tailandês, o artigo parte
da discussão iniciada por Diniz (2012b) sobre as características do cargo de leitor brasileiro.
Para tanto, analisaram-se os relatórios semestrais do Leitorado de junho de 2011 a março
de 2013 enviados à Divisão de Promoção de Língua Portuguesa (DPLP). Como a autora da
análise foi também Leitora brasileira que atuou no âmbito do programa, propõe-se um relato
reflexivo da experiência ao descrever as atividades descritas nos documentos. Definiu-se o
leitor no contexto tailandês como professor universitário, representante da cultura brasileira
no ambiente acadêmico, divulgador da língua falada no Brasil dentro e fora dos limites do
campus e dos programas de cooperação educacional do Governo do Brasil. Quanto aos desafios
enfrentados, a falta de material didático para o contexto tailandês, bem como a modesta
divulgação do Leitorado brasileiro na instituição acolhedora, foram os problemas mais
recorrentes apontados nos relatórios. Espera-se que o estudo contribua para a discussão sobre
o trabalho do professor-leitor brasileiro e para a memória do programa de Leitorado.
This article presents an analysis of the activities undertaken during the Brazilian Lectureship program at the Chulalongkorn University in Thailand. The role of the Brazilian lector in the Thai context is defined, based on Diniz’s (2012b) work about Brazilian language--spread policy. Therefore, five semiannual Lectureship reports, sent from June 2011 to March 2013 to the Departamento de Promoção da Língua Portuguesa (DPLP), were analyzed. Since the author of the analysis was also a Brazilian lecturer, a reflective narrative of the experience, describing the activities reported in the documents, is proposed. The Brazilian lecturer was defined in the Thai context as: (1) a university professor, (2) a representative of Brazilian culture on campus, (3) a promoter of the language as spoken in Brazil and of the Brazilian educational cooperation programs both inside and outside the boundaries of the campus. The lack of teaching material suitable for the Thai educational context, as well as the modest support from the foreign institution were the most frequent problems pointed out in the reports. It is expected that the study will contribute to the discussion of the work of the Brazilian Lecturer as well as to the memory of the Lectureship program.
