As Cataratas do Iguaçu entre relatos e imagens (Brasil e Argentina, 1900-1910)

Abstract

O presente trabalho de conclusão de curso em História tem como tema as Cataratas do Iguaçu na perspectiva historiográfica da História da Paisagem. A análise histórica se deu a partir de fontes escritas e imagéticas, especificamente relatos de viagens e cartões- postais que, em fins do século XIX e início do XX, descreveram e divulgaram a paisagem e a região. O principal objetivo deste estudo foi o de analisar como se deu a transição da narrativa escrita para a visual na construção da Paisagem “Cataratas do Iguaçu” no período de 1890 a 1910. Primeiramente fez-se uma busca por cartões-postais e, depois de encontrados, escolheu-se três relatos de viagem da mesma época que possibilitassem o diálogo entre as fontes. Também fez parte da metodologia analisar as fontes escritas e imagéticas a partir de obras de autores que trabalham a questão da Paisagem e da Imagem na historiografia.

The present work of conclusion of course in History has as its theme the Iguassu Falls in the historiographic perspective of Landscape History. The historical analysis was based on written and imagined sources, specifically travel reports and postcards that, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, described and disseminated the landscape and the region. The main objective of this study was to analyze how the transition from the written narrative to the visual in the construction of the Landscape "Iguaçu Falls" occurred in the period from 1890 to 1910. First, a search was made for postcards and, after encountered, three travel reports from the same period, were chosen to enable dialogue between sources. It was also part of the methodology to analyze the written and imagistic sources from the works of authors working on Landscape and Image in historiography
