Turistización y Segregación en la Ciudad Latinoamericana: El Caso de Cartagena de Indias, Colombia

Resumo
La segregación espacial es un común denominador en las ciudades latinoamericanas teniendo expresiones diferenciadas determinadas por las singularidades del lugar. En Cartagena, la segregación espacial-racial a causa del turismo ha asfixiado a la ciudad y la dividió en dos: una turística, exótica e ideal de propaganda; y otra marginalizada, informal y negra. El turismo actúa simultáneamente en varios planos, generando nuevas territorialidades que se sustentan en la promoción de imaginarios, estéticas y consumos, lo que consigue afectar los valores e identidades culturales de la comunidad donde se asienta. En ese sentido, el presente artículo pretende problematizar rol del turismo como actor determinante en los procesos de despojo y segregación espacial-racial en Cartagena; para ello, el texto está dividido en tres partes: histórico de expansión urbanística y turística y los conflictos territoriales en Cartagena; las culturas/identidades y resistencias frente a la turistización; y a manera
de conclusión se colocan algunos puntos para discusión y debate en torno a patrimonio, el turismo y alternativas al modelo extractivista.
Spatial segregation is a common denominator in Latin American cities having differentiated expressions determined by the singularities of the place. In Cartagena, spatial-racial segregation generated by the tourism has suffocated the city and divided in two: a tourist, exotic and ideal propaganda city; and the other marginalized, informal and black city. The tourism Acts simultaneously on several dimensions, generating new territorialities that are based on the promotion of a determined imaginaries, aesthetics and consumption, what gets affect the cultural values and identities of the community where it sits. Therefore, this article aims to problematize role of tourism as a determinant actor in the processes of dispossession and spatial-racial segregation in Cartagena; for this, the text is divided in three parts: History of urban and tourist expansion and territorial conflicts in Cartagena; the cultures/identities and local resistances against tourism transformation; and as a conclusion are placed some points for discussion and debate around heritage, tourism and alternatives to the extractives model
