This research work tracks the processes of subordinated inclusion of Latin American
visualities in the artistic canon, as well as the conditioning of these practices to
colonial/modern categories of the understanding of art. Based in the Latin American
section of the exhibition Global Conceptualism: Points of Origin 1950s-1980s, these
investigation results point out elements through which hegemonic constructions of
the territory defines and influences the (re)production of modern/colonial structures,
particularly the field of visual culture.
